Our Story

Dr. Kevin A. Williams is the son of Bishop Frank and Mother Florence Williams.  For him, the Lord and the Church have been an integral part of his life since birth.  Having been enveloped in the ministry from an early age, it was inevitable that God would play a large role in his life.  Dr. Williams was chosen by God for the ministry at an early age, and was confirmed in the office of prophet.  He began his public preaching ministry at age fifteen, and in the years since then, has become one of the most dynamic, and spirit-filled ministers in the nation.  Dr. Williams has served nobly and well—both as an evangelist, ministering the Word of God throughout the nation, and as a Pastor, not only of his church, Monument of Praise Ministries, Inc., but also at the passing of his father, New Jerusalem Cathedral, located in Greensboro, North Carolina, as well.

Dr. Kevin Williams was ordained in 1988 under the auspices of New Jerusalem Cathedral, the origin of the New Jerusalem Churches of Sound Doctrine, Inc. (NJCSD), and faithfully served under his father in the role of Assistant Pastor.  In October of 1992, he was called to found Monument of Praise Ministries, and in March of 1994, its first service was held at the Hartley Drive YMCA in High Point, North Carolina.

Monument of Praise Ministries is presently located at 321 Oakview Road in High Point.  The administrative organization of Monument of Praise Ministries, Inc., is comprised of its present Board of Directors, who include Dr. Williams, Mother Florence Williams, and Elder Wil E. Coleman, as well as the Finance Board, and selected ministerial associates and service ministry leaders. Over the years since its inception, Monument of Praise Ministries members have held faithful in their attendance, giving and service to their church and community ministry.  The ministries of the church include the Children’s Church, Youth Dance Ministry, Matrons, Missionaries, Choir, Transportation Ministry, Ushers and our GGO Senior Ministry, to name a few, and plans continue for the implementation of additional community involvement through neighborhood witnessing efforts, children/youth educational support programs, local college/university outreach, and food/clothing/resource assistance activities.

During the inception of Monument of Praise Ministries and since, Dr. Williams has served nobly and well—both as an evangelist, ministering the Word of God throughout the nation, and as a Pastor, not only of Monument of Praise, but at the passing of his father, New Jerusalem Cathedral as well.  Dr. Williams is a capable ministerial leader, and visionary who is being used by God not only to continue the legacy of his father, Bishop Williams, but also to expand and pursue the vision God has given him for Monument of Praise and for New Jerusalem Cathedral. In the last few years, both ministries have been blessed by NJCSD’s land acquisitions and the launching of additional churches/ministries—vital steps in the fulfillment of the vision to establish ministries capable of meeting the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of a hurting community, and of instituting a legacy of praise and worship to honor our Lord, and His commitment to His people.

The Word of God states in Habbakuk 2:2-3: “And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.  For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:  though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

This vision that is Monument of Praise Ministries has been years in the making, and has encompassed the lifetimes of two men, Bishop Frank Williams and his son, Dr. Kevin A. Williams.  But, it will encompass even more lifetimes, because that is the nature of inheritance. The vision for these New Jerusalem Churches of Sound Doctrine (NJCSD) ministries—and for its pastors — has been made plain. Though the vision seemed to have tarried, it has spoken; and we who are part of the vision must embrace it. This is, now, the appointed time.
